Why Undercurrent exists

I’ve always been the person who wonders how things actually work. Not the surface-level explanation, but the real mechanics — the incentives, the money flows, the quiet systems running beneath everything we use.

Undercurrent grew out of that curiosity. Too many interesting industries and systems are explained badly, or not at all. The information exists, but it’s buried in 200-page PDFs, academic papers, and industry reports that nobody reads.

How reports are made

Each report starts with a question — usually sparked on a commute, in a conversation, or by something that felt too interesting to ignore.

Research is AI-assisted but manually curated and edited. Every claim is checked, every diagram is original, and every sentence is written to be understood by anyone, not just specialists.

The goal is always the same: take something complex and make it feel obvious in hindsight.

One idea leads to another

The research map connects articles through their topics and editorially described relationships. Connections are invitations to explore; they do not claim that two systems are identical.
